Stefan Betzold to leave Bauer Media Group

Hamburg, 24 March 2026 – Stefan Betzold, Managing Director of Bauer Xcel Media and Chief Product & Marketing Officer for International Digital Publishing, has decided to leave Bauer Media Group. He will remain with the company for a transitional period to ensure a smooth handover of his responsibilities.

“Together with his teams in Germany and the UK, Stefan has created key foundations to further develop our digital publishing business and strengthen international collaboration. At a decisive stage of our transformation, he has provided significant momentum for our business. With his clear entrepreneurial perspective, he has made a lasting impact on our operations. We would like to express our sincere thanks for his contribution and wish him every success for the future,” said Ingo Klinge, President Publishing.

Stefan Betzold joined Bauer Media Group in early 2024 and has since played a leading role in driving the strategic development of the company’s digital publishing business. As a member of the management board, he was responsible for Bauer Media’s digital publishing portfolio of more than 40 media brands across Germany and the UK.

His focus included the further development of the monetisation strategy, the management of advertising sales and commerce activities, and the closer alignment of operations between Germany and the UK. The development of a new publishing platform laid the foundation for advancing product innovation, efficiency and new revenue models on an international scale.

Stefan Betzold is an experienced media and digital executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience in digital transformation and the monetisation of digital business models. Prior to joining Bauer Media, he served as Managing Director responsible for the digital business of German media brands at Axel Springer (including BILD, WELT and Computer Bild) and was Co-Founder of the PropTech company Evernest.
